Category: What are we listening to?

I mentioned in an earlier post that Nick went to Rock on the Range. Here is a little of that for those of us who weren’t there.

Contemplate the meaning behind this one.

“Just Like You Imagined” Fills you with the need to write something.

My son posted these for me on my wall at Facebook. He knows what the Ole Man likes.

Nick was at Rock on the Range last weekend

I’ve listened to a lot of music through my life. I remember listening to Motown stuff before I was a teenager. I listened to a lot of that stuff on WLS AM radio. We got a lot of our music on Friday Nights from watching The Midnight Special. As a teenager I got into a lot of Hard Rock. I had tickets to see Led Zeppelin when John Bonham passed away.  I remember when Ronnie James Dio became the singer for Black Sabbath. I am a big Pink Floyd fan. I saw them in Milwaukee back in 87 with my long time friend Kirk. That was the best. I’ve only recently seen Jethro Tull. My oldest son, knowing how much I liked Tull, took me to see them when they were in town. Tull has stood the test of time with me and has been one of my Favorites. Along with all of these oldies, I have listened to others through the years as well. NIN, Soundgarden, Rage Against the Machine, Audio Slave, Tool and most of Menard’s stuff. Menard Kicks ass. My youngest went to Rock on the Range. He saw A Perfect Circle. Talk about living Vicariously through your children.

A lot of the stuff I listen to is pretty main stream but there is also stuff that my 22 year old son turns me on to.  The thing is this, Music influences a lot of what I write and sometimes it is good to have something different to inspire me. What do you listen to and what suggestions do you have for me? What inspires you?
